Organic Synthesis and Chemical Reactions: Used for the regioselective synthesis of oxapridine analogs via iodine-catalyzed Markovnikov addition reactions; used in Friedel-Crafts alkylation reactions; and in Michael addition reactions.

 

Pharmaceutical Industry: Primarily used in the synthesis of the migraine treatment drug almotriptan. Furthermore, as an important heterocyclic scaffold, it is widely used in constructing the molecular structures of antitumor, antiviral, and central nervous system-related drugs. It is used to prepare the dioxygenase inhibitor pyridylvinylindole as a potential anticancer immunomodulator; and in the synthesis of COX-1/COX-2 inhibitors.

 

Agrochemicals: A key basic intermediate for the synthesis of novel plant growth regulators, herbicides, and fungicides. Used in the preparation and production of plant growth inhibitors. Dyes and Fragrances: Used in the production of acid dyes, cationic dyes, and azo dyes. In the fragrance industry, it serves as a stabilizer for certain fragrances, or in the formulation of industrial fragrances with distinctive animalic aromas, and can also be used as a fixative.
