Lauryl Methacrylate (LMA) is primarily utilized as an internal plasticizing monomer in the synthesis of acrylic resins, coatings, and adhesives. In the petroleum industry, it serves as a crucial raw material for manufacturing lubricant viscosity index improvers and pour point depressants. Due to its long hydrophobic chain and low shrinkage properties, LMA is also extensively used in UV-curable coatings, inks, textile finishes, leather auxiliaries, and electronic encapsulation materials.

 

Applications:

1: Lubricating Oil Additives.  Used in the synthesis of lubricating oil viscosity index improvers (PMA) and pour point depressants. Its long-chain structure significantly improves the fluidity of oils at low temperatures and their temperature stability at high temperatures.

2: Paper and Textile Auxiliaries.  Used as a filler retention agent in the paper industry and as a hydrophobic finishing agent and softener intermediate in the textile industry, increasing the water resistance and smoothness of fibers.

3: High-Performance Coatings and Inks.  Used as a diluent or comonomer in UV-cured coatings, reducing the water absorption rate of the coating and improving the flexibility of the coating film and its adhesion to metal/plastic substrates.

4: Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives and Adhesives.  Used to modify acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives, giving them better moisture resistance, initial tack, and wettability on low-energy surfaces.

5: Crude Oil Wax Degradation and Flow Control.  Used as a wax degrading agent for crude oil and fuel oil, preventing wax crystal precipitation through the embedding of its molecular chains.
